SD Dept of Health reports 1 new COVID-19 related death

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 1 new COVID-related death, while active cases & hospitalizations increased through Tuesday, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,051. The state had 862 new cases(last week 374) and 309 recoveries(last week 146), increasing active infections to 1,149(last week 657). Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 73(last week 39).

So far, South Dakota has had 126,454 cases and 123,254 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 29 new cases and 7 recoveries. The county currently has 33 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,691 cases and 5,563 recoveries. There’s currently 95 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 32,292 cases, followed by Pennington County with 14,310, and Lincoln County with 8,824, Other counties totals include Codington with 4,705, Brookings with 4,270, Davison with 3,276, Yankton with 3,126, and Lawrence with 3,083.

Statewide 389,388 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 60% of the state) with 360,933 completing vaccination(over 54% of the state). Brown County has 18,545 receiving at least one shot & 17,446 completing vaccination.

The South Dakota Department of Health will update the figures on a weekly basis.  Next update will be Wednesday, August 18th.
