SD Dept of Health reports 1 new COVID-19 related death

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 1 new COVID-related death, while active cases decreased & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,203. The state had 738 new cases and 877 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 5,679. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 195.

So far, South Dakota has had 151,088 cases and 143,206 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 23 new cases and 30 recoveries. The county currently has 233 active cases. Overall, the county has had 6,525 cases and 6,193 recoveries. There’s currently 99 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 36,932 cases, followed by Pennington County with 20,201 and Lincoln County with 10,132, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,459, Brookings with 5,068, Meade with 4,414, Lawrence with 4,255, and Davison with 3,689.

Statewide 442,791 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 66% of the state) with 377,287 completing vaccination(over 57% of the state).  Statewide 34,430 have received the booster shot.

Brown County has 20,520 receiving at least one shot & 17,996 completing vaccination.  1,561 receiving the booster shot.
