SD Dept of Health reports 1 new COVID-19 related death

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 1 new COVID-related death, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,235. The state had 396 new cases and 367 recoveries, increasing active infections to 5,421. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 187.

So far, South Dakota has had 154,482 cases and 146,826 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 16 new cases and 17 recoveries. The county currently has 270 active cases. Overall, the county has had 6,685 cases and 6,315 recoveries. There’s currently 100 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 37,519 cases, followed by Pennington County with 20,863 and Lincoln County with 10,267, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,598, Brookings with 5,132, Meade with 4,547, Lawrence with 4,358, and Davison with 3,742.

Statewide 449,106 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 67% of the state) with 363,766 completing vaccination(under 58% of the state).  Statewide 52,653 have received the booster shot.

Brown County has 20,780 receiving at least one shot & 17,297 completing vaccination. 2,449 receiving the booster shot.
