SD Dept of Health reports 1 new COVID-19 related death

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 1 new COVID-related death, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,450. The state had 466 new cases and 456 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 7,102. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 239.

So far, South Dakota has had 175,249 cases and 165,697 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 16 new cases and 22 recoveries. The county currently has 226 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,556 cases and 7,223 recoveries. There’s currently 107 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 42,271 cases, followed by Pennington County with 23,419 and Lincoln County with 11,562, Other counties totals include Codington with 6,356, Brookings with 5,658, Meade with 5,115, Lawrence with 4,895, and Davison with 4,420.

Statewide 491,792 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 67% of the state) with 442,415 completing vaccination(over 55% of the state).  Statewide 161,049 have received the booster shot(under 25% of the state).

Brown County has 22,581 receiving at least one shot & 21,035 completing vaccination. 8,304 receiving the booster shot.
