SD Dept of Health reports 1 new COVID-19 related death

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 1 new COVID-related death(through Friday), while active cases decreased & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 1,981. The state had 79 new cases and 116 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 1,211. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 81.

So far, South Dakota has had 123,310 cases and 120,118 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 3 new cases and 9 recoveries. The county currently has 75 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,556 cases and 5,389 recoveries. There’s currently 92 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 31,535 cases, followed by Pennington County with 13,706, and Lincoln County with 8,658. Other counties totals include Codington with 4,628, Brookings with 4,207, Davison with 3,227, Yankton with 3,083, and Lawrence with 2,971.

Statewide 334,193 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 55% of the state) with 299,535 completing vaccination(under 49% of the state).  Brown County has 16,162 receiving at least one shot & 14,765 completing vaccination.
