SD Dept of Health reports 1 new COVID-19 related death

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 1 new COVID-related death, while active cases & hospitalizations increased through Tuesday, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,039. The state had 61 new cases and 47 recoveries, increasing active infections to 167. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 27.

So far, South Dakota has had 124,641 cases and 122,424 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 1 new case and no recoveries. The county currently has 9 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,646 cases and 5,542 recoveries. There’s currently 95 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 31,771 cases, followed by Pennington County with 13,970, and Lincoln County with 8,725, Other counties totals include Codington with 4,657, Brookings with 4,239, Davison with 3,252, Yankton with 3,114, and Lawrence with 3,020.

Statewide 369,587 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 57% of the state) with 348,004 completing vaccination(under 53% of the state). Brown County has 17,616 receiving at least one shot & 16,856 completing vacciination.

The South Dakota Department of Health will update the figures on a weekly basis.  Next update will be Wednesday, July 14th.
