SD Dept of Health reports 11 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 11 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,449. The state had 762 new cases and 994 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 7,093. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 239.

So far, South Dakota has had 174,783 cases and 165,241 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 20 new cases and 50 recoveries. The county currently has 232 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,540 cases and 7,201 recoveries. There’s currently 107 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 42,152 cases, followed by Pennington County with 23,369 and Lincoln County with 11,545, Other counties totals include Codington with 6,350, Brookings with 5,640, Meade with 5,105, Lawrence with 4,887, and Davison with 4,400.

Statewide 490,903 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 67% of the state) with 441,881 completing vaccination(over 55% of the state).  Statewide 158,964 have received the booster shot(over 24% of the state).

Brown County has 22,537 receiving at least one shot & 21,013 completing vaccination. 8,207 receiving the booster shot.
