SD Dept of Health reports 11 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 11 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,912. The state had 277 new cases and 138 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 540. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 38.

So far, South Dakota has had 237,812 cases and 234,360 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 17 new cases and 16 recoveries. The county currently has 27 active cases. Overall, the county has had 10,320 cases and 10,172 recoveries. There’s currently 121 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 57,166 cases, followed by Pennington County with 32,793 and Lincoln County with 15,529, Other counties totals include Codington with 8,423, Brookings with 8,118, Meade with 7,020, Lawrence with 6,579, and Yankton with 5,910.

Statewide 523,068 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(72.44% of the state) with 472,546 completing vaccination(59.30% of the state).  Statewide 216,577 have received the booster shot(33.77% of the state).

Brown County has 23,741 receiving at least one shot & 22,394 completing vaccination. 11,260 receiving the booster shot.
