SD Dept of Health reports 11 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 11 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,430. The state had 513 new cases and 487 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 7,080. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 268.

So far, South Dakota has had 173,257 cases and 163,747 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 10 new cases and 11 recoveries. The county currently has 248 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,494 cases and 7,139 recoveries. There’s currently 107 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 41,733 cases, followed by Pennington County with 23,252 and Lincoln County with 11,439, Other counties totals include Codington with 6,282, Brookings with 5,582, Meade with 5,063, Lawrence with 4,855, and Davison with 4,313.

Statewide 487,759 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 66% of the state) with 439,639 completing vaccination(under 55% of the state).  Statewide 151,437 have received the booster shot(under 23% of the state).

Brown County has 22,462 receiving at least one shot & 20,923 completing vaccination. 7,901 receiving the booster shot.
