SD Dept of Health reports 14 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 14 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,623. The state had 1,608 new cases and 2,115 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 35,534. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 396.

So far, South Dakota has had 222,980 cases and 184,723 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 71 new cases and 64 recoveries. The county currently has 1,552 active cases. Overall, the county has had 9,469 cases and 7,805 recoveries. There’s currently 112 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 55,008 cases, followed by Pennington County with 30,530 and Lincoln County with 15,001, Other counties totals include Codington with 7,774, Brookings with 7,690, Meade with 6,461, Lawrence with 6,066, and Davison with 5,565.

Statewide 506,684 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 69% of the state) with 452,739 completing vaccination(under 57% of the state).  Statewide 193,440 have received the booster shot(under 30% of the state).

Brown County has 23,205 receiving at least one shot & 21,551 completing vaccination. 9,977 receiving the booster shot.
