SD Dept of Health reports 14 new COVID-19 related deaths(2 in Brown County)

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 14 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,371. The state had 492 new cases and 368 recoveries, increasing active infections to 7,682. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 246.

So far, South Dakota has had 168,763 cases and 158,710 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 23 new cases and 21 recoveries. The county currently has 329 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,361 cases and 6,925 recoveries. There’s currently 107 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 40,701 cases, followed by Pennington County with 22,820 and Lincoln County with 11,167, Other counties totals include Codington with 6,133, Brookings with 5,460, Meade with 4,968, Lawrence with 4,757, and Davison with 4,114.

Statewide 481,468 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 65% of the state) with 433,072 completing vaccination(under 54% of the state).  Statewide 130,714 have received the booster shot(under 17% of the state).

Brown County has 22,226 receiving at least one shot & 20,542 completing vaccination. 6,841 receiving the booster shot.
