SD Dept of Health reports 15 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 15 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,559. The state had 2,641 new cases and 587 recoveries, increasing active infections to 26,835. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 349.

So far, South Dakota has had 203,137 cases and 173,743 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 93 new cases and 19 recoveries. The county currently has 948 active cases. Overall, the county has had 8,530 cases and 7,472 recoveries. There’s currently 110 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 50,884 cases, followed by Pennington County with 27,003 and Lincoln County with 13,926, Other counties totals include Codington with 7,041, Brookings with 6,856, Meade with 5,760, Lawrence with 5,494, and Davison with 5,048.

Statewide 502,026 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 68% of the state) with 449,759 completing vaccination(over 56% of the state).  Statewide 184,742 have received the booster shot(over 28% of the state).

Brown County has 22,984 receiving at least one shot & 21,401 completing vaccination. 9,490 receiving the booster shot.
