SD Dept of Health reports 16 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 16 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,758. The state had 251 new cases and 1,747 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 9,771. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 240.

So far, South Dakota has had 233,692 cases and 221,163 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 20 new cases and 100 recoveries. The county currently has 541 active cases. Overall, the county has had 10,095 cases and 9,419 recoveries. There’s currently 115 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 56,573 cases, followed by Pennington County with 32,242 and Lincoln County with 15,372, Other counties totals include Codington with 8,288, Brookings with 8,038, Meade with 6,869, Lawrence with 6,494, and Yankton with 5,860.

Statewide 514,094 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 70% of the state) with 462,153 completing vaccination(under 58% of the state).  Statewide 204,494 have received the booster shot(over 31% of the state).

Brown County has 23,488 receiving at least one shot & 22,027 completing vaccination. 10,662 receiving the booster shot.
