SD Dept of Health reports 18 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 18 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases decreased & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,724. The state had 354 new cases and 2,240 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 15,679. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 317.

So far, South Dakota has had 232,400 cases and 213,997 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 10 new cases and 115 recoveries. The county currently has 872 active cases. Overall, the county has had 10,032 cases and 9,046 recoveries. There’s currently 114 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 56,372 cases, followed by Pennington County with 32,038 and Lincoln County with 15,336, Other counties totals include Codington with 8,224, Brookings with 7,996, Meade with 6,822, Lawrence with 6,417, and Yankton with 5,840.

Statewide 512,680 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 70% of the state) with 460,415 completing vaccination(over 57% of the state).  Statewide 202,743 have received the booster shot(over 31% of the state).

Brown County has 23,453 receiving at least one shot & 21,941 completing vaccination. 10,536 receiving the booster shot.
