SD Dept of Health reports 19 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 19 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,601. The state had 2,183 new cases and 1,054 recoveries, increasing active infections to 35,196. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 397.

So far, South Dakota has had 216,656 cases and 178,859 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 100 new cases and 32 recoveries. The county currently has 1,421 active cases. Overall, the county has had 9,149 cases and 7,618 recoveries. There’s currently 110 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 53,957 cases, followed by Pennington County with 29,364 and Lincoln County with 14,734, Other counties totals include Codington with 7,484, Brookings with 7,425, Meade with 6,217, Lawrence with 5,863, and Davison with 5,397.

Statewide 505,142 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 69% of the state) with 451,645 completing vaccination(over 56% of the state).  Statewide 190,537 have received the booster shot(over 29% of the state).

Brown County has 23,109 receiving at least one shot & 21,489 completing vaccination. 9,773 receiving the booster shot.
