SD Dept of Health reports 1st COVID-19 related death in a week

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 1 new COVID-related death, while active cases decreased & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 1,939. The state had 222 new cases and 248 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 2,484. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 100.

So far, South Dakota has had 119,197 cases and 114,774 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 10 new cases and 6 recoveries. The county currently has 95 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,366 cases and 5,180 recoveries. There’s currently 91 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 30,292 cases, followed by Pennington County with 13,328, and Lincoln County with 8,358. Other counties totals include Codington with 4,264, Brookings with 3,930, Davison with 3,139, Yankton with 2,969, and Lawrence with 2,909.

Statewide 287,609 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 48% of the state) with 196,298 completing vaccination(over 33% of the state).  Brown County has 13,652 receiving at least one shot & 9,270 completing vaccination.
