SD Dept of Health reports 2 COVID-19 deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 2 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases decreased & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death total currently at 1,909. The state had 146 new cases and 158 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 2,149. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 64.

So far, South Dakota has had 114,493 cases and 110,435 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 8 new cases and 7 recoveries. The county currently has 71 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,200 confirmed cases and 5,040 recoveries. There’s currently 89 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 28,613 cases, followed by Pennington County with 13,067, and Lincoln County with 7,937. Other counties totals include Codington with 4,079, Brookings with 3,650, Davison with 2,999, Lawrence with 2,839 and Yankton with 2,836.

Statewide 189,111 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 33% of the state) with 107,599 completing vaccination(over 18% of the state).  Brown County has 9,198 receiving at least one shot & 5,294 completing vaccination.
