SD Dept of Health reports 2 COVID-19 related deaths, active cases below 2,000

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 2 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases  & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 1,956. The state had 134 new cases and 222 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 1,953(1st time below 2,000 since April 4th). Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 107.

So far, South Dakota has had 121,651 cases and 117,742 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 5 new cases and 7 recoveries. The county currently has 74 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,450 cases and 5,285 recoveries. There’s currently 91 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 31,047 cases, followed by Pennington County with 13,514, and Lincoln County with 8,541. Other counties totals include Codington with 4,510, Brookings with 4,134, Davison with 3,198, Yankton with 3,036, and Lawrence with 2,937.

Statewide 320,189 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 53% of the state) with 244,369 completing vaccination(over 40% of the state).  Brown County has 15,463 receiving at least one shot & 11,741 completing vaccination
