SD Dept of Health reports 2 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 2 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,320. The state had 571 new cases and 439 recoveries, increasing active infections to 7,080. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 231.

So far, South Dakota has had 164,292 cases and 154,892 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 32 new cases and 23 recoveries. The county currently has 345 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,184 cases and 6,738 recoveries. There’s currently 101 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 39,537 cases, followed by Pennington County with 22,374 and Lincoln County with 10,840, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,940, Brookings with 5,319, Meade with 4,864, Lawrence with 4,658, and Davison with 4,006.

Statewide 473,600 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 64% of the state) with 427,149 completing vaccination(over 53% of the state).  Statewide 112,115 have received the booster shot(over 14% of the state).

Brown County has 21,877 receiving at least one shot & 20,291 completing vaccination. 5,979 receiving the booster shot.
