SD Dept of Health reports 2 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 2 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,522. The state had 1,944 new cases and 370 recoveries, increasing active infections to 15,927. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 301.

So far, South Dakota has had 189,411 cases and 170,962 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 58 new cases and 10 recoveries. The county currently has 476 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,977 cases and 7,392 recoveries. There’s currently 109 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 46,911 cases, followed by Pennington County with 25,010 and Lincoln County with 12,832, Other counties totals include Codington with 6,669, Brookings with 6,176, Meade with 5,386, Lawrence with 5,147, and Davison with 4,750.

Statewide 499,002 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 68% of the state) with 447,612 completing vaccination(over 56% of the state).  Statewide 177,953 have received the booster shot(over 27% of the state).

Brown County has 22,838 receiving at least one shot & 21,312 completing vaccination. 9,146 receiving the booster shot.
