SD Dept of Health reports 2 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 2 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,917. The state had 450 new cases and 160 recoveries, increasing active infections to 1,054. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 33.

So far, South Dakota has had 238,635 cases and 234,664 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 17 new cases and 11 recoveries. The county currently has 36 active cases. Overall, the county has had 10,344 cases and 10,187 recoveries. There’s currently 121 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 57,428 cases, followed by Pennington County with 32,903 and Lincoln County with 15,590, Other counties totals include Codington with 8,474, Brookings with 8,149, Meade with 7,042, Lawrence with 6,605, and Yankton with 5,929.

Statewide 524,283 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(72.75% of the state) with 473,967 completing vaccination(59.50% of the state).  Statewide 218,196 have received the booster shot(34.09% of the state).

Brown County has 23,798 receiving at least one shot & 22,428 completing vaccination. 11,321 receiving the booster shot.
