SD Dept of Health reports 2 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 2 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,919. The state had 475 new cases and 281 recoveries, increasing active infections to 1,246. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 33.

So far, South Dakota has had 239,110 cases and 234,945 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 15 new cases and 12 recoveries. The county currently has 39 active cases. Overall, the county has had 10,349 cases and 10,199 recoveries. There’s currently 121 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 57,533 cases, followed by Pennington County with 32,979 and Lincoln County with 15,621, Other counties totals include Codington with 8,503, Brookings with 8,165, Meade with 7,056, Lawrence with 6,617, and Yankton with 5,939.

Statewide 524,824 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(72.88% of the state) with 474,570 completing vaccination(59.58% of the state).  Statewide 218,960 have received the booster shot(34.24% of the state).

Brown County has 23,818 receiving at least one shot & 22,443 completing vaccination. 11,353 receiving the booster shot.
