SD Dept of Health reports 2 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 2 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased through Tuesday, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,043. The state had 269 new cases(last week 200) and 122 recoveries(last week 115), increasing active infections to 434(last week 290). Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 33(last week 38).

So far, South Dakota has had 125,216 cases and 122,739 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 3 new case and 5 recoveries. The county currently has 4 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,653 cases and 5,554 recoveries. There’s currently 95 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 31,931 cases, followed by Pennington County with 14,098, and Lincoln County with 8,751, Other counties totals include Codington with 4,670, Brookings with 4,250, Davison with 3,260, Yankton with 3,118, and Lawrence with 3,046.

Statewide 378,903 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 58% of the state) with 355,150 completing vaccination(under 54% of the state). Brown County has 18,085 receiving at least one shot & 17,143 completing vaccination.

The South Dakota Department of Health will update the figures on a weekly basis.  Next update will be Wednesday, August 4th.
