SD Dept of Health reports 2 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 2 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,205. The state had 466 new cases and 420 recoveries, increasing active infections to 5,723. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 200.

So far, South Dakota has had 151,554 cases and 143,626 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 16 new cases and 17 recoveries. The county currently has 232 active cases. Overall, the county has had 6,541 cases and 6,210 recoveries. There’s currently 99 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 37,008 cases, followed by Pennington County with 20,272 and Lincoln County with 10,144, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,479, Brookings with 5,072, Meade with 4,437, Lawrence with 4,273, and Davison with 3,694.

Statewide 443,187 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 66% of the state) with 376,330 completing vaccination(over 57% of the state).  Statewide 36,134 have received the booster shot.

Brown County has 20,553 receiving at least one shot & 17,966 completing vaccination.  1,624 receiving the booster shot.
