SD Dept of Health reports 2 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 2 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,305. The state had 415 new cases and 368 recoveries, increasing active infections to 6,820. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 234.

So far, South Dakota has had 161,960 cases and 152,882 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 25 new cases and 20 recoveries. The county currently has 349 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,081 cases and 6,631 recoveries. There’s currently 101 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 39,147 cases, followed by Pennington County with 22,112 and Lincoln County with 10,722, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,876, Brookings with 5,272, Meade with 4,815, Lawrence with 4,606, and Davison with 3,947.

Statewide 467,839 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 70% of the state) with 423,542 completing vaccination(under 59% of the state).  Statewide 101,258 have received the booster shot.

Brown County has 21,601 receiving at least one shot & 20,089 completing vaccination. 5,326 receiving the booster shot.
