SD Dept of Health reports 2 new COVID-19 related deaths, over 400,000 people have received their 1st dose

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 2 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,059. The state had 455 new cases and 151 recoveries, increasing active infections to 3,416. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 145.

So far, South Dakota has had 129,866 cases and 124,391 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 15 new cases and 8 recoveries. The county currently has 54 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,741 cases and 5,592 recoveries. There’s currently 95 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 32,895 cases, followed by Pennington County with 15,147, and Lincoln County with 9,000, Other counties totals include Codington with 4,771, Brookings with 4,418, Davison with 3,316, Lawrence with 3,312, and Meade with 3,206.

Statewide 400,937 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(above 61% of the state) with 369,979 completing vaccination(under 56% of the state). Brown County has 18,962 receiving at least one shot & 17,819 completing vaccination.
