SD Dept of Health reports 2 new COVID-19 related deaths(1 in Brown County)

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 2 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,357. The state had 512 new cases and 354 recoveries, increasing active infections to 7,572. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 247.

So far, South Dakota has had 168,271 cases and 158,342 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 14 new cases and 14 recoveries. The county currently has 329 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,338 cases and 6,904 recoveries. There’s currently 105 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 40,574 cases, followed by Pennington County with 22,779 and Lincoln County with 11,135, Other counties totals include Codington with 6,106, Brookings with 5,444, Meade with 4,961, Lawrence with 4,748, and Davison with 4,098.

Statewide 480,837 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 65% of the state) with 432,188 completing vaccination(under 54% of the state).  Statewide 127,910 have received the booster shot(over 16% of the state).

Brown County has 22,146 receiving at least one shot & 20,454 completing vaccination. 6,738 receiving the booster shot.
