SD Dept of Health reports 3 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 3 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,297. The state had 482 new cases and 350 recoveries, increasing active infections to 6,653. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 239.

So far, South Dakota has had 161,474 cases and 152,514 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 22 new cases and 23 recoveries. The county currently has 332 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,032 cases and 6,599 recoveries. There’s currently 101 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 38,986 cases, followed by Pennington County with 21,978 and Lincoln County with 10,674, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,846, Brookings with 5,249, Meade with 4,797, Lawrence with 4,584, and Davison with 3,913.

Statewide 466,406 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 70% of the state) with 422,787 completing vaccination(under 59% of the state).  Statewide 96,891 have received the booster shot.

Brown County has 21,608 receiving at least one shot & 20,044 completing vaccination. 4,958 receiving the booster shot.
