PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 5 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,936. The state had 971 new cases and 732 recoveries, increasing active infections to 2,780. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 65.
So far, South Dakota has had 243,269 cases and 237,553 recoveries.
Locally, Brown County had 28 new cases and 20 recoveries. The county currently has 77 active cases. Overall, the county has had 10,481 cases and 10,283 recoveries. There’s currently 121 Covid-related deaths.
Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 58,281 cases, followed by Pennington County with 33,933 and Lincoln County with 15,846, Other counties totals include Codington with 8,678, Brookings with 8,334, Meade with 7,246, Lawrence with 6,779, and Yankton with 6,037.
Statewide 527,120 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 73% of the state).
Brown County has 23,894 receiving at least one shot.
