SD Dept of Health reports 3 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 3 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,231. The state had 453 new cases and 378 recoveries, increasing active infections to 5,464. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 199.

So far, South Dakota has had 153,774 cases and 146,079 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 21 new cases and 5 recoveries. The county currently has 266 active cases. Overall, the county has had 6,652 cases and 6,286 recoveries. There’s currently 100 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 37,396 cases, followed by Pennington County with 20,706 and Lincoln County with 10,228, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,574, Brookings with 5,123, Meade with 4,521, Lawrence with 4,333, and Davison with 3,730.

Statewide 447,756 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 67% of the state) with 369,100 completing vaccination(under 58% of the state).  Statewide 46,290 have received the booster shot.

Brown County has 20,737 receiving at least one shot & 17,485 completing vaccination.  2,212 receiving the booster shot.
