SD Dept of Health reports 3 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 3 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases decreased & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,234. The state had 312 new cases and 380 recoveries, increasing active infections to 5,393. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 204.

So far, South Dakota has had 154,086 cases and 146,459 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 17 new cases and 12 recoveries. The county currently has 271 active cases. Overall, the county has had 6,669 cases and 6,298 recoveries. There’s currently 100 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 37,444 cases, followed by Pennington County with 20,780 and Lincoln County with 10,249, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,587, Brookings with 5,127, Meade with 4,532, Lawrence with 4,347, and Davison with 3,735.

Statewide 449,669 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 67% of the state) with 367,358 completing vaccination(under 58% of the state).  Statewide 49,506 have received the booster shot.

Brown County has 20,770 receiving at least one shot & 17,429 completing vaccination. 2,290 receiving the booster shot.
