SD Dept of Health reports 4 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 4 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,281. The state had 521 new cases and 311 recoveries, increasing active infections to 6,496. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 233.

So far, South Dakota has had 159,343 cases and 150,566 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 22 new cases and 13 recoveries. The county currently has 317 active cases. Overall, the county has had 6,922 cases and 6,504 recoveries. There’s currently 101 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 38,485 cases, followed by Pennington County with 21,666 and Lincoln County with 10,542, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,752, Brookings with 5,211, Meade with 4,731, Lawrence with 4,509, and Davison with 3,847.

Statewide 457,874 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 68% of the state) with 421,118 completing vaccination(over 58% of the state).  Statewide 84,260 have received the booster shot.

Brown County has 21,263 receiving at least one shot & 19,962 completing vaccination. 4,272 receiving the booster shot.
