SD Dept of Health reports 4 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.( – The state reported 4 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,309. The state had 415 new cases and 366 recoveries, increasing active infections to 6,865. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 230.

So far, South Dakota has had 162,960 cases and 153,616 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 17 new cases and 24 recoveries. The county currently has 342 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,098 cases and 6,643 recoveries. There’s currently 101 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 39,233 cases, followed by Pennington County with 22,165 and Lincoln County with 10,753, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,885, Brookings with 5,282, Meade with 4,829, Lawrence with 4,621, and Davison with 3,965.

Statewide 469,336 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 70% of the state) with 424,038 completing vaccination(over 59% of the state).  Statewide 104,187 have received the booster shot(under 15% of the state).

Brown County has 21,644 receiving at least one shot & 20,112 completing vaccination. 5,440 receiving the booster shot.
