SD Dept of Health reports 9 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 9 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,318. The state had 931 new cases and 837 recoveries, increasing active infections to 6,950. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 237.

So far, South Dakota has had 163,721 cases and 154,453 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 54 new cases and 60 recoveries. The county currently has 336 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,152 cases and 6,715 recoveries. There’s currently 101 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 39,429 cases, followed by Pennington County with 22,289 and Lincoln County with 10,812, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,917, Brookings with 5,308, Meade with 4,845, Lawrence with 4,642, and Davison with 3,987.

Statewide 472,065 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 71% of the state) with 424,844 completing vaccination(over 59% of the state).  Statewide 109,139 have received the booster shot(over 15% of the state).

Brown County has 21,881 receiving at least one shot & 20,153 completing vaccination. 5,660 receiving the booster shot.
