SD Dept of Health reports 4 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 4 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases decreased & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,788. The state had 113 new cases and 536 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 5,686. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 179.

So far, South Dakota has had 235,654 cases and 227,210 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 23 new cases and 38 recoveries. The county currently has 321 active cases. Overall, the county has had 10,182 cases and 9,746 recoveries. There’s currently 115 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 56,736 cases, followed by Pennington County with 32,403 and Lincoln County with 15,426, Other counties totals include Codington with 8,324, Brookings with 8,055, Meade with 6,942, Lawrence with 6,533, and Yankton with 5,873.

Statewide 515,138 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 71% of the state) with 463,502 completing vaccination(over 58% of the state).  Statewide 206,268 have received the booster shot(under 32% of the state).

Brown County has 23,532 receiving at least one shot & 22,091 completing vaccination. 10,740 receiving the booster shot.
