SD Dept of Health reports 4 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 4 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases decreased & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,875. The state had 48 new cases and 82 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 2,597. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 70.

So far, South Dakota has had 236,845 cases and 231,373 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 3 new cases and 4 recoveries. The county currently has 152 active cases. Overall, the county has had 10,263 cases and 9,990 recoveries. There’s currently 121 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 56,962 cases, followed by Pennington County with 32,611 and Lincoln County with 15,467, Other counties totals include Codington with 8,389, Brookings with 8,089, Meade with 6,993, Lawrence with 6,554, and Yankton with 5,901.

Statewide 518,476 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 71% of the state) with 467,738 completing vaccination(under 59% of the state).  Statewide 210,629 have received the booster shot(over 32% of the state).

Brown County has 23,617  receiving at least one shot & 22,242 completing vaccination. 11,001 receiving the booster shot.

With average cases under 50 per day, starting next week, the South Dakota Department of Health will update on a weekly basis with updates being posted on Wednesdays.
