SD Dept of Health reports 4 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 4 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,253. The state had 520 new cases and 367 recoveries, increasing active infections to 5,662. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 187.

So far, South Dakota has had 156,123 cases and 148,208 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 25 new cases and 18 recoveries. The county currently has 287 active cases. Overall, the county has had 6,784 cases and 6,397 recoveries. There’s currently 100 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 37,818 cases, followed by Pennington County with 21,139 and Lincoln County with 10,362, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,645, Brookings with 5,162, Meade with 4,630, Lawrence with 4,404, and Davison with 3,770.

Statewide 452,739 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 68% of the state) with 418,364 completing vaccination(over 58% of the state).  Statewide 65,932 have received the booster shot.

Brown County has 20,895 receiving at least one shot & 19,801 completing vaccination. 3,210 receiving the booster shot.
