SD Dept of Health reports 4 new COVID-19 related deaths, active cases above 10,000

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 4 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,498. The state had 3,047 new cases and 1,068 recoveries, increasing active infections to 10,753. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 261.

So far, South Dakota has had 183,030 cases and 169,779 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 78 new cases and 34 recoveries. The county currently has 316 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,785 cases and 7,361 recoveries. There’s currently 108 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 44,888 cases, followed by Pennington County with 24,314 and Lincoln County with 12,309, Other counties totals include Codington with 6,556, Brookings with 5,889, Meade with 5,267, Lawrence with 5,019, and Davison with 4,599.

Statewide 497,474 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 68% of the state) with 446,442 completing vaccination(under 56% of the state).  Statewide 174,700 have received the booster shot(under 27% of the state).

Brown County has 22,779 receiving at least one shot & 21,240 completing vaccination. 8,954 receiving the booster shot.
