SD Dept of Health reports 5 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 5 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,853. The state had 50 new cases and 146 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 3,016. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 88.

So far, South Dakota has had 236,602 cases and 230,733 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 6 new cases and 5 recoveries. The county currently has 199 active cases. Overall, the county has had 10,251 cases and 9,932 recoveries. There’s currently 120 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 56,909 cases, followed by Pennington County with 32,559 and Lincoln County with 15,463, Other counties totals include Codington with 8,377, Brookings with 8,078, Meade with 6,986, Lawrence with 6,551, and Yankton with 5,902.

Statewide 517,682 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 71% of the state) with 466,638 completing vaccination(over 58% of the state).  Statewide 209,060 have received the booster shot(over 32% of the state).

Brown County has 23,608 receiving at least one shot & 22,206 completing vaccination. 10,924 receiving the booster shot.
