SD Dept of Health reports 5 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 5 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,077. The state had 1,230 new cases and 901 recoveries, increasing active infections to 6,507. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 210.

So far, South Dakota has had 135,538 cases and 126,954 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 29 new cases and 9 recoveries. The county currently has 175 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,897 cases and 5,627 recoveries. There’s currently 95 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 33,771 cases, followed by Pennington County with 16,818 and Lincoln County with 9,281, Other counties totals include Codington with 4,886, Brookings with 4,582, Lawrence with 3,671, Meade with 3,666, and Davison with 3,421.

Statewide 409,788 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(above 62% of the state) with 377,467 completing vaccination(under 57% of the state). Brown County has 19,361 receiving at least one shot & 18,330 completing vaccination.
