SD Dept of Health reports 5 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 5 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,084. The state had 615 new cases and 328 recoveries, increasing active infections to 7,032. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 203.

So far, South Dakota has had 136,772 cases and 127,656 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 41 new cases and 9 recoveries. The county currently has 225 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,964 cases and 5,644 recoveries. There’s currently 95 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 33,975 cases, followed by Pennington County with 17,111 and Lincoln County with 9,340, Other counties totals include Codington with 4,924, Brookings with 4,633, Lawrence with 3,733, Meade with 3,728, and Davison with 3,454.

Statewide 410,940 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(below 63% of the state) with 378,632 completing vaccination(over 57% of the state). Brown County has 19,449 receiving at least one shot & 18,303 completing vaccination.
