SD Dept of Health reports 5 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 5 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,294. The state had 904 new cases and 900 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 6,534. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 236.

So far, South Dakota has had 160,992 cases and 152,164 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 52 new cases and 34 recoveries. The county currently has 333 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,010 cases and 6,576 recoveries. There’s currently 101 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 38,871 cases, followed by Pennington County with 21,912 and Lincoln County with 10,643, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,824, Brookings with 5,233, Meade with 4,778, Lawrence with 4,573, and Davison with 3,898.

Statewide 465,667 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 70% of the state) with 428,368 completing vaccination(under 59% of the state).  Statewide 94,823 have received the booster shot.

Brown County has 21,527 receiving at least one shot & 20,256 completing vaccination. 4,951 receiving the booster shot.
