SD Dept of Health reports 5 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 5 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,438. The state had 366 new cases and 360 recoveries, increasing active infections to 7,336. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 244.

So far, South Dakota has had 174,021 cases and 164,247 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 13 new cases and 9 recoveries. The county currently has 262 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,520 cases and 7,151 recoveries. There’s currently 107 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 41,968 cases, followed by Pennington County with 23,307 and Lincoln County with 11,487, Other counties totals include Codington with 6,316, Brookings with 5,614, Meade with 5,082, Lawrence with 4,870, and Davison with 4,350.

Statewide 489,163 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 66% of the state) with 440,792 completing vaccination(over 55% of the state).  Statewide 154,733 have received the booster shot(under 24% of the state).

Brown County has 22,494 receiving at least one shot & 20,962 completing vaccination. 8,106 receiving the booster shot.
