PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 5 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases decreased & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,628. The state had 1,358 new cases and 2,134 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 34,753. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 404.
So far, South Dakota has had 224,338 cases and 186,857 recoveries.
Locally, Brown County had 88 new cases and 71 recoveries. The county currently has 1,569 active cases. Overall, the county has had 9,557 cases and 7,876 recoveries. There’s currently 112 Covid-related deaths.
Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 55,222 cases, followed by Pennington County with 30,740 and Lincoln County with 15,052, Other counties totals include Codington with 7,833, Brookings with 7,752, Meade with 6,520, Lawrence with 6,102, and Davison with 5,592.
Statewide 506,928 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 69% of the state) with 453,017 completing vaccination(under 57% of the state). Statewide 194,058 have received the booster shot(under 30% of the state).
Brown County has 23,217 receiving at least one shot & 21,559 completing vaccination. 10,008 receiving the booster shot.
