SD Dept of Health reports 5 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 5 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,665. The state had 768 new cases and 2,534 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 28,789. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 355.

So far, South Dakota has had 228,938 cases and 197,484 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 61 new cases and 143 recoveries. The county currently has 1,434 active cases. Overall, the county has had 9,846 cases and 8,299 recoveries. There’s currently 113 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 55,875 cases, followed by Pennington County with 31,482 and Lincoln County with 15,219, Other counties totals include Codington with 8,069, Brookings with 7,891, Meade with 6,708, Lawrence with 6,295, and Davison with 5,700.

Statewide 508,665 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 70% of the state) with 454,592 completing vaccination(under 57% of the state).  Statewide 196,919 have received the booster shot(over 30% of the state).

Brown County has 23,292 receiving at least one shot & 21,643 completing vaccination. 10,168 receiving the booster shot.
