PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 5 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,606. The state had 1,887 new cases and 831 recoveries, increasing active infections to 36,247. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 392.
So far, South Dakota has had 218,543 cases and 179,690 recoveries.
Locally, Brown County had 98 new cases and 12 recoveries. The county currently has 1,506 active cases. Overall, the county has had 9,247 cases and 7,630 recoveries. There’s currently 111 Covid-related deaths.
Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 54,280 cases, followed by Pennington County with 29,687 and Lincoln County with 14,808, Other counties totals include Codington with 7,573, Brookings with 7,531, Meade with 6,282, Lawrence with 5,922, and Davison with 5,457.
Statewide 505,596 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 69% of the state) with 451,950 completing vaccination(over 56% of the state). Statewide 191,301 have received the booster shot(over 29% of the state).
Brown County has 23,152 receiving at least one shot & 21,504 completing vaccination. 9,892 receiving the booster shot.
