SD Dept of Health reports 5 new COVID-19 related deaths(2 in Brown County) & added vaccines figures for booster shots

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 5 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,182. The state had 341 new cases and 462 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 5,963. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 201.

So far, South Dakota has had 149,678 cases and 141,533 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 18 new cases and 9 recoveries. The county currently has 231 active cases. Overall, the county has had 6,463 cases and 6,133 recoveries. There’s currently 99 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 36,679 cases, followed by Pennington County with 19,910 and Lincoln County with 10,067, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,374, Brookings with 5,036, Meade with 4,368, Lawrence with 4,221, and Davison with 3,667.

Statewide 439,713 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 66% of the state) with 379,066 completing vaccination(under 57% of the state).  Statewide 27,148 have received the booster shot.

Brown County has 20,435 receiving at least one shot & 19,216 completing vaccination.  1,149 receiving the booster shot.
