SD Dept of Health reports 5 new COVID-19 related deaths(2 in Brown County)

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 5 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,019. The state had 36 new cases and 113 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 300. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 41.

So far, South Dakota has had 124,227 cases and 121,908 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 3 new cases and 7 recoveries. The county currently has 26 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,631 cases and 5,510 recoveries. There’s currently 95 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 31,708 cases, followed by Pennington County with 13,844, and Lincoln County with 8,711, Other counties totals include Codington with 4,647, Brookings with 4,231, Davison with 3,245, Yankton with 3,109, and Lawrence with 3,004.

Statewide 352,451 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 54% of the state) with 323,387 completing vaccination(over 49% of the state).  Brown County has 16,969 receiving at least one shot & 15,765 completing vaccination.
