SD Dept of Health reports 6 COVID-19 related deaths, active cases continues to fall while hospitalizaions remain the same

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 6 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases declines hospitalizations remain the same, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death toll now at 1,815. The state had 175 new confirmed cases and 262 recoveries, lowering active infections 2,151. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus decrease to 109.

So far, South Dakota has had 109,580 confirmed cases and 105,614 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 9 new cases and 23 recoveries. The county currently has 135 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,027 confirmed cases and 4,813 recoveries. There remains 79 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 27,333 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,532, and Lincoln County with 7,549. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,825, Brookings with 3,495, Davison with 2,914, Lawrence with 2,772, and Yankton with 2,760.

Statewide 89,050 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(almost 13% of the state) with 40,491 receiving 2 doses needed to complete vaccination.  Brown County has 3,759 receiving at least one shot & 1,993 getting the 2 shots need to complete vaccination.
