SD Dept of Health reports 6 COVID-19 related deaths, active infections below 2,000

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 6 new COVID-related deaths(including 1 in Brown County), while active cases decrease while hospitalizations increase, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death total currently at 1,859. The state had 147 new confirmed cases and 172 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 1,997(Lowest since 2,000 on Aug. 27th. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 95.

So far, South Dakota has had 111,165 confirmed cases and 107,309 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 4 new cases and 8 recoveries. The county currently has 78 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,084 confirmed cases and 4,926 recoveries. There’s currently 85 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 27,702 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,727, and Lincoln County with 7,660. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,923, Brookings with 3,557, Davison with 2,936, Lawrence with 2,801 and Yankton with 2,788.

Statewide 119,896 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 17% of the state) with 60,400 receiving 2 doses needed to complete vaccination(under 9% of the state).  Brown County has 5,608 receiving at least one shot & 3,018 getting the 2 shots need to complete vaccination.
